Grounded in extensive research and clinical experience, this manual provides a complete guide to interpersonal psychotherapy for depressed adolescents (IPTA). IPTA is an evidencebased brief intervention designed to meet the specific developmental needs of teenagers. Clinicians learn how to educate adolescents and their families about depression, work with associated relationship difficulties, and help clients manage their symptoms while developing more effective communication and interpersonal problemsolving skills. The book includes illustrative clinical vignettes, an extended case example, and information on the models conceptual and empirical underpinnings. Helpful session checklists and sample assessment tools are featured in the appendices.

I was really looking forward to this book, but it didn't meet my expectations. It felt overly academic at times and didn't resonate with my daughter. She found it challenging to stay engaged with the material. Maybe it works better for some than others.

Effective but Needs More Practical Examples
While the concepts in this book are solid, I think it could benefit from more real-life scenarios that teens can connect with. My daughter liked the idea but struggled a bit with how to apply some of the strategies. Still a good read overall!
