Introduction to Fluid Mechanics, Sixth Edition, is intended to be used in a first course in Fluid Mechanics, taken by a range of engineering majors. The text begins with dimensions, units, and fluid properties, and continues with derivations of key equations used in the controlvolume approach. Stepbystep examples focus on everyday situations, and applications. These include flow with friction through pipes and tubes, flow past various two and three dimensional objects, open channel flow, compressible flow, turbomachinery and experimental methods. I recently bought this sixth edition for my master’s program, and I find it very comprehensive. It includes a variety of real-world applications, which makes the theories practical. The exercises at the end of each chapter are great for practice too!

Not what I expected from a sixth edition
I was disappointed with this edition. It felt like it skipped over some critical topics that were covered in earlier versions. Also, the binding was loose when it arrived. I hoped for a well-rounded update, but it left me wanting.

Good content but a bit confusing
This fluid mechanics text has a lot of great information, but I found some sections hard to digest at first. The diagrams are useful, but they could use more detailed explanations. I guess I just expected a bit more clarity in some chapters.

A solid textbook for engineering students
I’m using the sixth edition of this book for my fluid mechanics class and it’s been super helpful. The explanations are clear and the examples really help illustrate complex concepts. I also like the layout, it's easy to follow, which is great during late-night study sessions!
