El presente trabajo comprende el marco conceptual y curricular, as como la parte metodolgica de un programa de desarrollo de estrategias metacognitivas para favorecer el aprendizaje de la aritmtica en estudiantes del 1 grado de educacin secundaria. Asimismo, son parte de este trabajo, el desarrollo del proceso de investigacin, el anlisis y la discusin de resultados. Este trabajo es un inicio, una pequea muestra de un estudio coherente que puede desarrollarse en todas las reas del currculo. Busca fomentar un aprendizaje consciente en el alumno, aprendizaje que supone un enfoque mejor al tradicional de la enseanzaaprendizaje, el cual debiera ser autnomo y autodirigido mediante el uso frecuente de estrategias de automanejo y autocontrol. Estas actividades se disearon tomando como referencia el programa Aprendo a pensar del Dr. Carles Monereo Font. En cada una de las actividades, se combinan las tres dimensiones que presenta dicho programa: 1) habilidades de procesamiento, 2) uso estratgico de procedimientos de aprendizaje (tipo de estrategia) y 3) tipo de contenido en el rea curricular de matemtica.
