Las reformas educacionales, para ser tales, deben llegar al aula. En este trabajo se hace un estudio acerca de la necesidad de repensar la formacin docente en Chile para que los ideales de la reforma educacional, materializados en nuevos programas de estudio, se hagan realidad en la prctica pedaggica cotidiana. El trabajo consiste en un estudio documental epistemolgico sobre la propuesta de reforma y sus fundamentos y en un estudio de caso acerca de la implementacin de los nuevos programas. Se prtende probar la necesidad de adecuar el recurso principal, los profesores, mediante una nueva concepcin de su formacin para lograr en ellos capacidades de investigacinaccin crtica a niveles preoperativo y operativo para poder llevar adelante la reforma adecuando su prctica pedaggica hacia un trabajo reflexivo y autorregulado.
