Erstmals in der Kriegsgeschichte Israels stellt sich whrend des sogenannten Zweiten Golfkrieges 19901991 ein vllig neues Phnomen dar. Widererwarten verhlt sich Israel whrend des Zweiten Golfkrieges zurck und verfolgt eine sogenannte passive Kriegsfhrung. Auf Grund von Raketenangriffen von Saddam Hussein reagiert Israel nicht mit unverzglicher Vergeltung. Diese Tatsache stellt ein Novum dar, welches Verwunderung im Nahen Osten ausgelst hat. Israel wurde infolge solch einer diplomatischen Kriegsfhrung Respekt, Anerkennung und Reife zugestanden. Schlielich hat Israel mit seiner Zurckhaltung bewiesen, dass es auch ohne eine aktive Kriegsbeteiligung Bestand haben kann und somit stellt diese Strategie grundstzlich eine sehr gute Alternative fr eine zuknftige Konfliktbewltigung dar. Kann Israels passive Kriegsfhrung whrend des Zweiten Golfkrieges eine zuknftige Vorbildfunktion fr smtliche kriegsfhrenden Parteien darstellen, indem sich Israel durch so eine Haltung sowohl als diplomatisch prsentiert als auch vernnftig erwiesen hat und somit eine wirkliche Alternative zu einem vernichtenden Krieg sein und damit einen wichtigen Beitrag zur Friedensforschung leisten? Oder ist es vielmehr so, dass hierbei von einer von den USA an Israel auferlegten Sanftmtigkeit' gesprochen werden muss?
