Der vorliegende Band bietet zum ersten Mal seit ber vierzig Jahren eine kritische Neuedition der literarischen Schriften, die der sptantike rmische Kaiser Julian Apostata in der Zeit seiner Alleinherrschaft (361 363 n. Chr.) verfasst hat, soweit sie noch vollstndig erhalten sind. Die lateinische Praefatio fasst die bisherigen Forschungsergebnisse zur berlieferung dieser Schriften zusammen und erlutert die methodischen Grundlagen der Edition; dem Text selbst sind ein kritischer Apparat (der die Varianten der berlieferung und alle wichtigen Verbesserungsvorschlge der frheren und des jetzigen Herausgebers auffhrt und gegebenenfalls begrndet) und ein TestimonienApparat (der Julians Zitate aus und Anspielungen auf frhere Literatur, daneben aber auch Zitate aus seinem Text in spterer Literatur, soweit sie fr die Textkonstitution wichtig sind, dokumentiert) beigegeben.
