Die offizielle Kulturpolitik hingegen versuchte, ihn totzuschweigen. Mit der Rekonstruktion seiner kaum bekannten Lebensgeschichte und der exemplarischen Analyse seiner Texte verdeutlicht Alexander Woll, warum Deml, an dessen kunstlerischer Entwicklung sich das Zerbrechen der pluralen Kultur der drei bohmischen Gruppierungen von Tschechen, Deutschen und Juden nachzeichnen lasst, der Rang eines tschechischen Rimbauds zuerkannt wurde.
