Bible scholars compare James to the prophet Amos. In other ways James more closely resembles the Book of Proverbs than any New Testament book. Come along with Beth Moore on a journey to get to know both the man and the Book of James. You will never be the same again.Leader Kit Includes: One Bible study book with personal study segments to complete between 8 weeks of group sessions and leader guide to lead discussion within small groups 6 DVDs with enriching teaching videos, approximately 60 minutes per sessionBenefits: Be inspired to put your faith into action in practical ways. Understand the power of the resurrection. Plug into your community to meet the needs of those around you.Video Sessions: Session 1: (59:00)This opening session introduces Jesus' half brother, James, not through the letter he wrote but with a plan God wrote. Beth sets the stage by first getting to know James by diving into Scripture where his name is mentioned. Session 2: (55:10)In this session, Beth camps out on the first verse of James' letter James 1:1. An overview of the letter will be important for future study, and Beth provides that important background in this session. Session 3: (57:36)James tells us to "consider it a great joy? whenever [we] experience various trials" (James 1:2, HCSB). In this session Beth explores the topics of joy and anguish. Session 4: (58:20)In this session Beth teaches us that if we don't live what we believe, then we don't believe it. We will study in this session how James urges us not to become a forgetful listener (James 1:25) and not to show favoritism (James 2:19). Session 5: (59:25)When it comes to my faith, what good is it? Why is my life any better because I am a believer in Christ? Session 6: Beth focuses on two different topics in this session. First based on James 4:910, Beth explores when it is appropriate to turn our joy into gloom. In the second half she focuses on cynicism. Session 7: (59:25)Beth discusses how we respond when we find ourselves in a dry season with God. Digging into James 5, we see how we should live when God seems hard to find. Session 8: (61:00)In this final session of study, Beth closes out our journey together through the life and Book of James. In a tribute to his message and ministry, we return to the last sentence that dripped from his pen (James 5:20). Bonus 1: A Conversation: Kelly Minter with Beth Moore and Melissa Moore (62:38)A behind the scenes interview hosted by Kelly Minter with Beth Moore and Melissa Moore about the man and the Book of James. Bonus 2: Tutorial on Memorizing the Book of James and Beth Recites the Book of James (25:28)Beth challenges participants who are willing to memorize the entire Book of James. In this segment, Beth recites the book from memory and provides guidance for those who are considering this "Level 5" option.
