Somdev Composed It In 1070 Ad, At The Behest Of Queen Suryamati, During The Reign Of King Anantdev Of Kashmir. Considered A Masterpiece In The World Of Folklore, The Folklore Of Jammu And Kashmir Has Influenced Listeners And Orientalists For Years. The Effort To Transcribe These Oral Tales Onto Paper Began In The 19Th Century. These Tales, While Presenting A Cultural And Social Landscape, Also Portray The Characters Of Gods And Goddesses, Kings And Queens, And Ordinary People, And Convey Messages. These Folktales Are Both Inspiring And Entertaining.
