Es ist ein Herzensstueck, das sich der Botaniker und spaetere Rektor der Universitaet Wien Julius Wiesner mit der Erstellung der hier vorliegenden Biografie des Forschers Jan IngenHousz erfuellt hat. Wiesners Werk ist die Huldigung eines grossen Denkers, mit dessen Forschungsergebnissen sich immer wieder andere geschmueckt haben. Dabei gilt IngenHousz als einer der Begruender der Pflanzenphysiologie und hat auf diesem Gebiet zahlreiche Entdeckungen gemacht. Es gelingt Wiesner, IngenHousz aus dem Schatten zu holen, und auf diese Weise einen fundamentalen Beitrag zur Geschichte der Botanik und nicht zuletzt der Pflanzenphysiologie zu leisten.
