Jean Paul Gaultier a ralis les costumes de 14 ballets chorgraphis par Rgine Chopinot. Le plus connu dentre eux, Le Dfil (1985), est une cration atypique pour 16 danseurs, comdiens et mannequins, midfil de mode, miballet. Le spectacle a fait date en rconciliant une nouvelle gnration de chorgraphes avec le costume de mode. Ce livre permet de redcouvrir des costumes qui nont jamais t montrs endehors des reprsentations ellesmmes. Robes corset, tutus taills et sculpts, combinaisons peintes en trompe lil, crinolines et laines tricotes sont autant de crations qui crent un effet de miroir avec les crations de Jean Paul Gaultier dans le domaine du prtporter et de la haute couture.
