Johann Georg Ebelings Geistliche Andachten, erschienen 1666 und 1667 in Berlin in zehn Heften, sind die einzige zu Paul Gerhardts Lebzeiten erschienene Gesamtausgabe von dessen Liedern. Anhand neuer Quellen kann nun auch die Mitwirkung Gerhardts an der Liedsammlung nachgewiesen werden. Untersucht werden die theologischmusikalische Konzeption des Werkes, seine musikalische Umsetzung und seine von den Autoren intendierte Funktion in der Situation des Berliner Kirchenstreits. Bei der musikalischen Analyse wird eingegangen auf die stilistische Vielfalt der Vertonungen, das Verhltnis von Text und Musik und Ebelings Verhltnis zur Tradition, insbesondere zu Heinrich Schtz und zu Johann Crger. Zudem wird Ebelings Biografie erstmals anhand der Quellen dargestellt.
