Journey of the Peregrines (gypsies) Secret Gifts of the Magi an historical novel set in Caesaraugusta, Hispania (ancient Salduba, present day Saragossa, Spain) 295 AD to 315AD time of the last most brutal persecution of Christianity under Diocletian until the reign of Constantine the Great. It includes the story of Vincentius (St. Vincent Martyr), a young deacon and hero of Hispania. Among a complexities of love and romance, the novel illumines the character and lives of the early Christians and the Peregrines (gypsies). Included in the imaginative tales told around their Great Fire, these mysterious and illusive people, the gypsies/peregrines, relate the secret of how they came to be called gypsies. Included in their tales is the story of how they escorted the Magi into Bethlehem and the Holy Family into Egypt. Their many tales also tell of their Saint, Sara, and their presence and involvement at critical times in the life of Christ.
