Much less beautiful but more useful as a popular introduction to the topic is Recent Discoveries in Chinese Archaeology , edited by Foster Stock well and Tang Bowen (China Bks., 1984). Tomasevic was the editor of a similar international effort that was re sponsible for China (LJ 11/1/80), and while the present book is an improve ment over that one, it is not a neces sary library purchase.
