Es stellt sich die Frage, wie jugendliche Straftter sanktioniert werden mssen. Die Untersuchung zeigt das Repertoire jugendstrafrechtlicher Sanktionen in Deutschland, sterreich, der Schweiz und den USA auf und vergleicht sie miteinander. Es wird dabei auch bercksichtigt, welche Bedeutung den einzelnen Sanktionen in der Justizpraxis der jeweiligen Lnder zukommt. Ein Schwerpunkt der Arbeit liegt in der Darstellung der jugendstrafrechtlichen Sanktionen des amerikanischen Strafrechts unter besonderer Bercksichtigung der Bundesstaaten Wisconsin und Minnesota. Die Untersuchung zeigt Besonderheiten des deutschen Jugendstrafrechts auf, die in den brigen verglichenen Rechtsordnungen nicht existieren.
