The Kabbalah, the major work of Jewish mystical learning, maps the poetic universe of Judaism. As never before this philosophy is made clear, relevant, and exciting, and Afterman explains the Kabbalah with a keen sense of advocacy. The book concerns itself with movement from ordinary consciousness towards union, the rectification of the eternal in everyday reality, and an exploration of male and female modes of living.of a Jewish garment worker and an internationally known gypsy singer, with whom he later toured. After graduating from UCLA, Harvard Law, Monash University, he left America for New Zealand and Singapore, and eventually bought a cattle ranch in Australia. In 1981, he emigrated to Israel. He died tragically in 1992. Kabbalah and Consciousness was his last published work.
