Hierzu wird die Gruppe der studentischen Elite und ihre unterschiedlichen Ausprgungen in Frankreich, den USA und Deutschland untersucht. Im Fokus der Arbeit zum einen die genaue Betrachtung des Elitebegriffes selbst und es wird gezeigt, dass dieser auf unterschiedlichste Art und Weise interpretiert werden kann. Des Weiteren werden die unterschiedlichen Zugangsvoraussetzungen fr Elitehochschulen in den drei genannten Lndern sowie die Reprsentation der Absolventen in elitren Positionen genauer betrachtet. Aus diesen Betrachtungen wird ein Ausblick auf die mgliche Entwicklung und eine aktuelle Bewertung der deutschen Exzellenzinitiative gegeben. Entgegen der weitlufigen Meinung eine Ausbildung an einer Elitehochschule sei nur den Besten vorbehalten, stellt sich heraus, dass habituelle Prferenzen ebenso fr die Aufnahme an eine Elitehochschule von Bedeutung sind wie der Faktor Geld. Weiter wird gezeigt, dass der Elitebegriff eine hohe Komplexitt aufweist, die leicht zu Fehlinterpretationen fhren kann. Abschlieend wird der Elitebegriff auf seinen Zusammenhang zum Begriff der Karriere hin untersucht und es wird festgestellt, dass die Begriffe weder aufeinander aufbauen noch strikt miteinander in Verbindung stehen.
