Those Who Read Poetry Are A Minority, But They Are Immense. They Cannot Be Limited In Number. They Are Certainly Fewer Than The Majority Who Have No Connection To Poetry, But They Are Not Measurable. Those Who Transform Themselves Through Poetry And Poetry Through Themselves Are Constantly Present, But They Are Underground And Silent. They Are So Hidden, Scattered, Lost, And Beneath The Surface That They Cannot Be Counted. Indeed, In This Self-Absorbed And Superficial World, The Activities Of Poetry Are A Special Kind Of Underground Activity. My Words Should Not Be Interpreted As Us Demanding Space Or Concessions For Poetry In The Larger Society.
