Vor dem Hintergrund der widersprchlichen Positionen zur friedlichen Nutzung der Kernenergie in der Bundesrepublik untersucht die Autorin, wie Naturwissenschaftler und andere Experten der Kerntechnik ihre Arbeit in Parlament bzw. ffentlichkeit legitimieren. Ziel des Buches ist es, die biographischen Handlungsstrategien von Experten zu rekonstruieren, die sie im Angesicht der mglichen militrischen Nutzung ihrer Arbeit entwickelt haben. Zu diesem Zweck wurden biographischnarrative Interviews gefhrt und hermeneutisch ausgewertet. Das Sample umfasst Geburtsjahrgnge zwischen 1919 und 1954, so dass ermittelt wird, ob die Deutungen ihrer Erlebnisse whrend des Nationalsozialismus (der Experten selbst oder die ihrer Eltern) relevant fr ihre gegenwrtige naturwissenschaftliche Ttigkeit in der Kernenergie sind. Diese Perspektive wird durch die Analyse von Bundestagsreden zwischen 1955 und 1976 ergnzt. Mit ihrer Studie charakterisiert die Autorin den Argumentationswandel in der Debatte um die friedliche bzw. militrische Nutzung im Rahmen des parlamentarischen und ffentlichen Diskurses.
