King Robert the First centers on a collection of characters whose interactions influence each persons version of self and of the world. Blending romance and suspense with a measure of whimsy, the story investigates the capacity of the human spirit while sketching a conception of contemporary American society. Through a series of incredible events, the story poses the question about how a workingclass type of individual might operate in a position of considerable power. With a political theme underlying much of the work, ideas about love, friendship, and trust are highlighted alongside a version of a separate country as it might exist if controlled by a bluecollar type with a slightly above average intellect. With an eye for detail and a penchant for dialect, the author draws the reader into the lives of an eclectic group of people. Robby, the main character, turns out to be a humorous mix of redneck and wise warrior with a keen understanding of cause and effect. The main female character, Dawn, personifies female strength and passion, while the outside characters portray varying personality traits that commingle to display humanity in all its vibrant hues. Overall, the structure of the story line plus the fantasy element, were designed to keep the reader entertained until the satisfying end.
