Es sind Situatio nen, die sich durch einen Aufgabencharakter auszeichnen, weil angepass tes Handeln nicht unmittelbar aus reflektorischen oder automatisierten Reaktionen resultiert, sondern erst durch Planung und Auswahl zustande kommt. Die Auseinandersetzung mit solchen Situationen hat einerseits eine affektive Komponente, indem das neue Ereignis eine Unterbrechung im Handlungsfluss bewirkt und Erregung oder Spannung erzeugt. Je nach auslosendem Ereignis und Verlauf der Auseinandersetzung treten Emotio nen wie Neugier, Angst, Stolz, Spannung, Ueberraschung oder Schrecken auf. Andererseits liegt eine kognitive. Komponente darin, indem das neue Ereignis zunachst ein unbestimmtes Ereignis ist: seine Beziehung zu Bekanntem, seine Einordnung in die bestehenden Wissensstrukturen ist noch nicht erfolgt, und infolgedessen ist auch eine Antizipation seines Fortganges nicht moglich. Damit angepasstes Verhalten moglich wir und letzten Endes das Ueberleben gewahrleistet ist ist es wichtig, dass die Erregung in solchen Situationen reguliert werden kann und sich auf einem Niveau einstellt, das die kognitive Bewaltigung der Situation bzw. die Losung der Aufgabe erlaubt."
