Von den mglichen prinzipiellen Verfahren zur Kollisionsberwachung an Fertigungseinrichtungen erfllt nur die rechnerische Methode die Anforderungen an Geschwindigkeit (OnlineKollisionsberwachung), Kostenaufwand und Funktionalitt. Die Gesamtfunktion einer mathematischen Kollisionsberwachung wird im wesentlichen durch die Festlegung eines geeigneten, rechnerinternen Modells fr die Geometrien kollidierender Krper beeinflut. Bei dem hier entwickelten Verfahren erfolgt die Beschreibung von Geometrien durch skalare und vektorielle Felder (Distanz und Distanznderungsfelder). Der Vorteil dieser Darstellung liegt in der Einfachheit und Universalitt der Algorithmen. Krper mit komplexen Oberflchen und deren mgliche Kollisionen sind durch einfache Polynomgleichungen darstellbar und damit fr eine Realisierung auf Mikrorechnersystemen besonders geeignet. Ein weiterer Vorteil der Distanzfeldmethode besteht in der Mglichkeit, Ausweichrichtungen einfach zu ermitteln und Mae fr die minimale Distanz zwischen zwei beliebigen Krperoberflchen zu berechnen.
