Product Description Der 'Kommentar zu einem Lied der Liebe' des Giovanni Pico della Mirandola (14631494) entstand whrend des Jahres 1486, zeitgleich mit der Niederschrift der 900 Thesen sowie der dazu einleitenden 'Oratio de hominis dignitate' (PhB 427). Die Grundlage des Kommentars waren neun Stanzen, verfat von Girolamo Benivieni, der wie Pico ebenfalls dem losen Kreis der Florentiner Akademie um Marsilio Ficino zuzurechnen ist. Das Thema der Schrift ist das Verhltnis zwischen Einheit und Mannigfaltigkeit. Whrend Gott das Einfache ist, ist das Schne Zusammensetzung und Widerstreit. Innerhalb der neuplatonischen Tradition gelingt Pico eine Aufwertung der Phnomene der erscheinenden Wirklichkeit." About the Author Giovanni Pico della Mirandola wird 1463 als Sohn einer Adelsfamilie in Norditalien geboren. Bereits im Alter von 14 Jahren studiert Pico kanonisches Recht in Bologna, wendet sich aber ab 1478 der Philosophie an den Universitten Padua und Ferrara zu. Er liest die Hauptwerke der aristotelischen, averoistischen, arabischen und jdischen Tradition und steht knapp zehn Jahre spter in Florenz im Zentrum des humanistischen Geisteslebens. Hier leitet Ficino unter Frderung der Medici eine "Platonische Akademie," die sich neben philosophischen Gesprchen bersetzungen platonischer Dialoge und hermetischer Schriften der Sptantike widmet. Pico selbst verffentlicht 1486 900 Thesen zu theologischen und philosophischen Fragen, zu deren Diskussion er alle Gelehrten Europas nach Rom zusammenrufen wollte. Die Einleitung zu diesem gewaltigen Thesenkatalog, die posthum unter dem Titel ber die Wrde des Menschen verffentlicht wird, gilt als einer der berhmtesten Texte des italienischen Humanismus; in ihr betont Pico die Freiheit des Menschen und seine von Gott verliehene Fhigkeit, zur Schau der tiefsten Geheimnisse des Universums aufzusteigen. Papst Innozenz VIII. lt jedoch 13 der Thesen Picos fr hretisch erklren, worauf dieser nach Frankreich fliehen mu. Unter dem Schutz der Medici zurckgekehrt, verfat Pico einen Kommentar zur Schpfungsgeschichte, der unter dem Namen Heptaplus posthum erscheint. Er gert in seinen letzten Lebensjahren unter den Einflu Savonarolas und stirbt, vermutlich vergiftet, im Jahre 1494 in Florenz.
