Umfangreiche kommunikationswissenschaftliche als auch dialogpdagogische und betriebssoziologische Literatur bilden das grundlegende Material, mit dem gearbeitet wurde. Durch neue, zum Teil ungewohnte Herangehensweisen an die Thematik entstand eine breit angelegte Arbeit, die ein komplexes Bild der mglichen Kommunikationsformen zwischen Arzt und Pflegeperson gibt. Den bergang vom theoretischen zum empirischen Teil bildet der Text 'The Doctornursegame revisited' von Stein et. al. Drei amerikanische rzte beschreiben darin die Beziehung zw. Pflegepersonen und rzten als eine Art Spiel mit klar definierten Hierarchien, das zum Ziel hat, offene Konflikte zu vermeiden. Das Vertrauen von Patienten in die allmchtige Profession Medizin soll damit gesttzt werden. Durch immer strker sprbare Professionalisierungsbestrebungen von Pflegepersonen bekommt das 'Doctornursegame' neue Spielregeln. Solche Neuorientierungen gehen zwangslufig mit dem Aufdecken von Statuskonflikten einher und zeigen sich am deutlichsten in vernderten Kommunikationsformen. Die zum Teil bedrckenden Forschungsergebnisse besttigen die Vermutung, dass nach wie vor starke Machtstrukturen am Arbeitsplatz Krankenhaus existieren. Weder Pflegenden noch rzten gelint es, Konflikte aus einer Metaperspektive heraus zu betrachten. Da Interessenskonflikte meist mit Statuskonflikten verknpft sind, ist es notwendig, auch die Beziehungsebene miteinzubeziehen. Erst dann kann symmetrische Kommunikation gelingen. Das Betrachten der Sachebene alleine wird der Komplexitt dieser Konflikte nicht gerecht. Anhand qualitativer Leitfadeninterviews konnten etliche interessante Ergebnisse entschlsselt werden.
