Nach dem Jurastudium in Mainz und einem neunmonatigen Aufenthalt in New York absolvierte er 1989 seine zweite juristische Staatsprfung in Wiesbaden. Im Anschlu an eine Ttigkeit als Rechtsanwalt in einer Steuerrechtskanzlei in Kln ist er seit November 1992 Justitiar bei der RWE Energie AG in Essen.
