Seit 2002 fhrt der Abbau der Rohstoffe zu einem durchschnittlich jhrlichen BIPWachstum von ca. 9,4 Prozent. Ein Ende des Rohstoffbooms ist nicht zu erwarten. Die Entwicklung einer eigenen leistungsfhigen verarbeitenden Industrie und einer HighTechIndustrie wurde jedoch stark vernachlssigt. Dies macht die kasachische Wirtschaft uerst abhngig von der Entwicklung der Rohstoffpreise. Um deutschen Unternehmern einen groben berblick ber Kasachstan zu vermitteln, erfolgen zu Beginn der Arbeit ein paar kurze Ausfhrungen zur geographischen Lage des Landes, zur Demographie, zur innen wie auch zur auenpolitischen und wirtschaftlichen Situation. Den Hauptteil dieser Arbeit bilden die Ausfhrungen ber die wirtschaftliche Entwicklung der Republik Kasachstan seit der Erklrung der Unabhngigkeit. Daraus wird ersichtlich, dass es in den letzten Jahren zu der bereits erwhnten Rohstoffabhngigkeit des Landes kam. Die Konzentration kann zu den Phnomenen Fluch der Ressourcen und hollndische Krankheit (Dutch Disease) fhren, deren Folgen sich negativ auf die Entwicklung eines Landes auswirken knnen. Zum besseren Verstndnis wird diese Problematik zunchst theoretisch behandelt. Anschlieend wird eine Analyse anhand der aktuellen Wirtschaftssituation Kasachstans vorgenommen. Im Frhjahr 2003 unterzeichnete der kasachische Prsident Nursultan Nasarbajew die Strategie der industriellen und innovativen Entwicklung Kasachstans von 2003 bis 2015. Ziel ist es, die einseitige Abhngigkeit der kasachischen Wirtschaft vom Rohstoffbereich durch eine Diversifizierung zu verringern.
