So oder so hnlich kann wohl die zeitgenssische Vorstellung in Alltag und weiten Teilen akademischer Praxis insbesondere der Geisteswissenschaften ber den Status der Metapher und das ihr angestammte Terrain beschrieben werden. Dabei bedienen sich Philosophen seit der Antike zahlreicher knstlerischer Gestaltungsmglichkeiten, um ihr Anliegen vorzubringen. Mit Vorbehalt zu uern ist die These aber aus ganz anderen, sehr viel schwerwiegenderen Grnden. Sofern sie fr wahr gehalten wird, verhindert sie sowohl aufgrund ihrer Voraussetzungen als auch durch ihre Folgen die Anerkennung des Potenzials, das der Metapher innewohnt und fr das Verstndnis von sprachlicher Kommunikation im Allgemeinen, das Verhltnis von akademischer und knstlerischer Textproduktion im Besonderen und den Nutzen der Metapher im Bereich der Ersteren fruchtbar gemacht werden kann. Das Ziel dieser Arbeit ist die genauere Betrachtung hauptschlich eines der genannten Aspekte, nmlich Nutzen, Effekt und Wert der Metapher, sobald sie in akademischer Textproduktion Verwendung findet. Daraus ergeben sich einige bemerkenswerte Folgen fr knstlerische Literatur, und ihre Fhigkeit, Erkenntnisgewinn und vermittlung im wissenschaftlichen Betrieb entscheidend modifizieren.
