KON1EXT ANALYSE ist als Begriff unscharf. Als Obersetzung des englischen 'contextual analysis' miiBte es "kontextuelle Analyse" heiBen. Der Begriff "Kontextanalyse" suggeriert, daB Kontexte als Explanandu analysiert werden. Das ist nicht der Fall. 1m Rahmen dessen, was unter die Be zeichnung Kontextanalyse raUt, wird vielmehr versucht, Eigenschaften von Indivi duen zu erklaren. Als Individuen werden im allgemeinen Menschen verstanden, formal konnen aber auch andere soziale Einheiten (z.B. Gruppen) als kleinste Ein heiten und damit im lateinischen Wortsinne als "unteilbar" angesehen werden (vgJ. Falter 1978: 853). In die Analyse werden neben individueUen Faktoren auch Kontexte, also die jeweiligen Umgebungen, als Explanans einbezogen. Kontextan alyse kann aber mehr leisten als nur den Vergleich zwischen Kontexten: auch die Eigenschaften von Kontexten werden zur Erkliirung individueller Eigenschaften herangezogen. Somit lauft der Versuch, den Begriff der Kontextanalyse zu prazisieren und zu verbessem, auf eine Festlegung (oder Definition) hinaus, die folgende Elemente enthalten muB: Explanandum der Analyse ist: ein Merkmal bzw. eine Eigenschaft von Individuen, t Explanans der Analyse sind: Merkmale bzw. Eigenschaften von Individuen (sog. Individualmerkmale) Merkmale bzw. Eigenschaften von Kontexten (sog. Kontextmerkmale) Kontextanalyse ist demnach Mehrebenenanalyse, da Eigenschaften von Indivi duen und von Kontexten, also Einheiten unterschiedlicher hierarchischer Ordnung, in die Analyse eingehen. (Zu einer Typologie von Analysen nach Ebenen der Analyse vgl. Riley 1964: 1015ff. und darauf aufbauend Clar 1981: 118f.). Die griffigste Bestimmung dessen, was Kontextanalyse ist, dUrfte sein: Erkliirung der Eigenschaften von Individuen im Rahmen von Mehrebenenanalyse.
