Die Problematik der Mittelstandsfinanzierung wird mit den weitreichenden Verflechtungen verschiedener Komponenten begrndet, darunter vor allem den strukturellen Gegebenheiten des Bankensystems, des Angebots an Risikokapital, den vom Staat gesetzten Rahmenbedingungen sowie den traditionellen Verhaltensweisen des Mittelstandes selbst. bereinstimmend wird in der Fachliteratur der Mangel an Eigenkapital im Mittelstand als Kernproblem der Mittelstandsfinanzierung genannt. Demzufolge wird eine verbesserte Eigenkapitalausstattung des deutschen Mittelstands als Voraussetzung fr hhere Risikotragfhigkeit, fr Wachstum und Innovation gesehen. In folge dessen werden Angebot und strukturelle Rahmenbedingungen mglicher Risikokapitalfinanzierungen zunehmend diskutiert. In dieser Arbeit sollen die Entwicklung und die Struktur des Risikokapitalangebots in Deutschland mit seinen Auswirkungen auf den Mittelstand untersucht werden. Der Entwicklung des Risikokapitalmarktes in Deutschland wird die zeitliche und strukturelle Entwicklung des Risikokapitalmarktes in den USA gegenbergestellt. Diese Gegenberstellung bietet sich aufgrund der internationalen Leitfunktion des USamerikanischen Marktes als Referenz und Beurteilungskriterium an. Es wird nachzuweisen sein, dass die Risikokapitalmarktstrukturen beider Lnder, Deutschland und USA, aufgrund der internationalen Verflechtungen von Wirtschaft und Finanzmrkten zunehmend konvergieren und sich die relative Unreife des deutschen Marktes gegenber dem der USA auflst.
