Dem heutigen Problem, bei der Stoffstromdatenerfassung Prozesse per Hand aufzunehmen und sie spter zur Analyse oder Statistik in ein datenverarbeitendes System oder Expertensystem zu bertragen, wurde bisher kaum Beachtung geschenkt. Dieser Medienbruch wird im Buch durch die Entwicklung eines Konzeptes und Funktionsprototypen aufgehoben, da die dadurch aufgenommenen Daten in ein System exportiert werden knnen. Als Lsungsweg wird ein Prototyp so gestaltet, dass er die Daten nach der PAS 1025 in einem XMLFormat ausgibt, mit dem die zurzeit vorherrschenden BUIS umgehen knnen. Nach dem Importieren der Daten kann umgehend mit der Erstellung und Weiterbearbeitung des Modells, "der Stoffstromanalyse", begonnen werden. Somit wird eine effiziente und zeitsparende Mglichkeit der Stoffstromdatenerfassung entwickelt.
