Prozesse der industriellen Produktion und der Energieumwandlung basieren auf linearen Stoffstromen, d. h. Rohstoffe werden aus der N atur entnommen, zu Wertstoffen und Reststoffen/ AbfaIlen transformiert und anschlieBend in die Natur zuriickgeflihrt. Vor allem in den letzten 10 Jahren hat der Wissenszu wachs iiber derartige Immissionen und ihre Wirkungen in Boden und Wasser jedoch verdeutlicht, daB die Erde nur ein begrenztes Aufnahme und Abbaupo tentia! fUr Reststoffe/ AbfaIle hat. Zur LOsung dieses Problems wurde dabei lange iibersehen, daB die N atur selbst die besten Beispiele vorgibt. Dazu geho ren u. a. Stoftkreislaufe mit geochemischen Prozessen der Stoffumwandlung und differenzierung wie z. B. der Kohlendioxid, Stickstoff oder Schwefel kreislauf. Die Ubertragung des Prinzips geschlossener Materialstrome auf Reststoffe/ Ab faIle, umschreibbar mit den bekannten Worten Recycling und Verwertung, ist jedoch nicht ohne weiteres moglich. Notwendige Konzepte und fortschrittliche Techniken miissen in den meisten Hillen erst noch entwickelt werden. Dariiber hinaus sind auch wirtschaftliche und politische Schwierigkeiten beachtlich und die Akzeptanz ist in groBen Teilen der Offentlichkeit noch gering. In der vorliegenden Arbeit wird eine optimierte LOsung zu dieser Problematik aufgezeigt, speziell flir eine Reststoffgruppe. Dabei handelt es sich um feste Riickstiinde aus der Rauchgasreinigung industrieller und offentlicher Feuerun gen, die fossile Energietrager einsetzen. Fiir diese Materialien werden neuartige Entsorgungswege mit verwertungsorientierten Autbereitungen auf regionaler Ebene konzipiert und unter technischen, okologischen und okonomischen Ge sichtspunkten bewertet.
