Er ist brutal, zerstrerisch und unberechenbar. Fr die Mehrzahl der Menschen ist der Krieg eine schreckliche Angelegenheit, eine Art der Konfliktbewltigung, die sinnlos zu sein scheint. Dennoch gibt es ihn, ebenso wie es Menschen gibt, die ihn als einzigen und letzten Ausweg sehen, um einen Konflikt auszutragen und die machtpolitische berlegenheit des eigenen Landes unter Beweis zu stellen. Doch wie grausam der Krieg auch sein mag, entscheidend ist, die Augen davor nicht zu verschlieen. Die Grueltaten, die ein Krieg mit sich bringt, sind Teil der Realitt und daher nicht zu verleugnen. Es gilt, der Wahrheit des Krieges ins Gesicht zu blicken, schon allein um unschuldigen Zivilisten den Weg in die ffentlichkeit zu gewhren, die alles verloren haben oder ihr Leben fr die Durchsetzung staatlicher Interessen opfern mussten. Auch ihr Schicksal und ihre Meinungen mssen eine ffentliche Beachtung finden. Die Wahrheit ans Licht zu bringen, das ist die primre und verantwortungsvolle Aufgabe der Kriegs und Krisenberichterstattung. Bei der Verbreitung politischer Interessen spielen die Medien als "Vierte Gewalt" eines demokratischen Staates eine besonders entscheidende Rolle. Sie nehmen Informationen auf und tragen sie in die ffentlichkeit. Ihre Aufgabe ist es, die Brger umfassend ber politische Ereignisse zu informieren und dabei stets verdeckte Wahrheiten zu enthllen. Damit nehmen die Medien, vor allem im Bereich der Kriegsberichterstattung einen wichtigen Stellenwert in der Gesellschaft ein. Indem sie ber politische Geschehnisse informieren, geben sie dem Brger die Mglichkeit, sich eine eigene Meinung zu bilden und angemessene politische Entscheidungen treffen zu knnen.1
