Seit dem Jahr 2002 hat sich die Anzahl der Internetzugnge weltweit mehr als verdoppelt. Das Surfen, Bloggen und Posten ist aus dem Alltag vieler Menschen nicht mehr weg zu denken. Aufgrund der rasanten Entwicklung des Internets kann dieses als die wichtigste technische Entwicklung der letzten Jahrzehnte bezeichnet werden. In den letzten Jahren haben sich viele Vernderungen ergeben: Statische Anwendungen und Webseiten gehren der Vergangenheit an, Soziale Netzwerke, Blogs und Communities beherrschen heute das World Wide Web. Die Nutzer fungieren im Web 2.0 nicht lnger als Zuschauer, sondern wirken aktiv bei der Gestaltung mit. Aufgrund der neuen Eigenschaften dieses Mediums muss auch die Kritik an den Medien, die von Vertretern kritischer Medientheorien geuert wurde, berdacht und neu beurteilt werden. Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es daher, das Web 2.0 im Hinblick auf die Kriterien eines emanzipatorischen Mediengebrauchs nach Ansicht der Vertreter der kritischen Theorie der Frankfurter Schule zu untersuchen. Im besonderen Fokus stehen hierbei die Kerngedanken Hans Magnus Enzensbergers, der sich seit den 1970er Jahren mit der kritischen Medientheorie und den Unterschieden zwischen repressivem und emanzipatorischem Mediengebrauch beschftigte. Im ersten Teil der Ausarbeitung wird auf die Grundlagen eingegangen, die zum Verstndnis der nachfolgenden Teile notwendig sind. Hierbei werden sowohl die kritische Theorie der Frankfurter Schule und die Medientheorie nach Enzensberger als auch die Eigenschaften des Web 2.0 anhand ausgewhlter Anwendungen und Webseiten nher erlutert.
