Die gesamte Kstenlinie der Erde beluft sich auf 286.300 km wobei die Kstenlinien der Inseln, die ebenfalls noch mal 220.000 km betragen in dieser Zahl noch nicht bercksichtigt sind. (Goudie 2002) Valentin definiert die Kste, als das Gebiet zwischen der obersten (...) landwrtigen und untersten seewrtigen Brandungswirkung". Es gibt allerdings sehr viele Definitionen, die den Kstenbereich rumlich weiter definieren und zwar bis zu dem Punkt, an dem das Salzwasser auch durch das so genannte Salzwasserspray keinen Einfluss mehr auf die Vegetation und Morphologie des angrenzenden Landes hat. Ich mchte in dieser Hausarbeit von einem noch weiter gefassten Kstenbegriff ausgehen, um so das Nutzungspotential der Ksten durch den Tourismus und die Fischereiwirtschaft erfassen zu knnen. (Kelletat 1989) Die Ksten der Welt sind ein stark beanspruchter Lebensraum. Weltweit lebt ca. 2/3 der gesamten Bevlkerung an Ksten oder in deren unmittelbarer Nhe. Durch die zunehmende Besiedelung und die stetig wachsende wirtschaftliche Bedeutung des Kstenraumes kommt es aber auch zu kologischen Problemen. In dieser Hausarbeit sollen nun explizit die Atlantikksten von Frankreich und der britischen Inseln unter dem Gesichtspunkt deren Nutzung betrachtet werden. Hierbei wird vor allem auf die intensive Nutzung durch den Fremdenverkehr und die Fischerei eingegangen. Es sollen des Weiteren Probleme aufgezeigt werden, die durch die intensive Nutzung der Atlantikksten entstehen knnen. (Goudie 2002) Um das Nutzungspotential der Ksten verstehen zu knnen werde ich nun einen Einblick geben, wie die einzelnen Kstenformen entstehen und
