En este libro la autora argumenta en favor de dos ideas centrales; la primera sostiene que la nocin de interpretacin planteada desde la fenomenologa hermenutica de M. Heidegger nocin que H. G. Gadamer hace productiva para el adecuado tratamiento de las Ciencias Sociales muestra rasgos sustanciales que coinciden con la nocin de interpretacin que, de acuerdo con T. S. Kuhn, realiza el cientfico durante los perodos de ciencia normal. La segunda idea defiende que tanto la nocin de otredad en la hermenutica filosfica de Gadamer como la de inconmensurabilidad en el modelo de cambio cientfico de Kuhn, representan un elemento inherente de la movilidad de los saberes, en tanto constituyen condiciones de posibilidad para la derogacin de prejuicios. Del desarrollo de estas dos ideas centrales se colige que el dilogo entre tradiciones filosficas distintas representa uno de los retos que la filosofa actual debe asumir, si es que ha de nutrirse del conflicto deliberativo que nace del encuentro de tradiciones que por antonomasia se han considerado irreconciliables.
