El alto nivel de crecimiento de la industria del software en la ltima dcada, como soporte de la produccin industrial, de servicios y de comunicaciones se ha sostenido en base a diversos modelos de desarrollo al interior de la organizacin de tal industria. La aplicacin de diversos modelos y estndares que proponen principios de organizacin, se basan en la lgica de modelos productivos que preceden a la produccin de software como una industria especfica e innovadora. Sin embargo, tales estndares, no sistematizan las caractersticas que brindan cambios sustanciales en la evolucin de los modelos. En este sentido, el conocimiento como nica materia prima e inherente de la produccin de software y la calidad total son conceptos que no debieran ser excluidos de la produccin de software. El presente trabajo, expone un estudio comparativo entre las formas de organizacin del proceso software y los diferentes modelos de produccin industrial, y propone un modelo de proceso que incorpore las especificidades de cada uno de los modelos industriales a efectos de sistematizar la lgica de produccin de software en el marco de la produccin industrial en general.
