El presente trabajo tiene como objetivo describir y analizar el proceso de comercializacin de la leche cruda producida en dos comunidades de la regin centro occidental de Mxico: Benito Jurez y Santa Elena. La metodologa seguida un efoque tuvo un enfoque participativo con entrevistas, aplicacin de encuestas y observacin directa. Para seleccionar la muestra se utiliz un muestreo aleatorio. Para el clculo de los costos se emple la metodologa de costos por insumos. En Benito Jurez los costos de produccin fluctuaron entre $1.03 y $5.98 por litro sin considerar el costo de oportunidad de la mano de obra, y considerndolo los costos fueron de $2.13 a $7.93 por litro. Se identific la existencia de los canales 0 y 1 con mrgenes brutos de comercializacin del 48%. Por su parte en Santa Elena se identificaron los mismos canales de comercializacin y un margen bruto de comercializacin del 32%. Bajo ciertas condiciones este sistema puede generar utilidades. Se evidencia poca adopcin de tecnologa en las unidades estudiadas y un escaso conocimiento del mercado. No se observaron programas gubernamentales de apoyo a la comercializacin del este producto.
