En el presente estudio se describe la estructura y dinmica anual de la comunidad de macroinvertebrados acuticos en una rambla salina natural, localizada en el litoral del sureste peninsular (Regin de Murcia). El estudio se centra en comparar dos tramos del arroyo de distintas caractersticas hidrolgicas: la fuente, de caudal permanente y condiciones ambientales constantes, y el tramo final, de carcter temporal y fluctuante. Se abordan diversos aspectos ecolgicos como la seleccin del hbitat por los invertebrados y las relaciones trficas establecidoas entre ellos y sus recursos, todo ello a travs del anlisis de la abundancia y biomasa de las especies. Asimismo, se realiza una aproximacin a los ciclos de vida de las especies y una revisin de estudios similares llevados a cabo en ros temporales. Finalmente, se destaca la importancia biogeogrfica que tienen los ros salinos naturales de zonas semiridas en un contexto mundial, especialmente debido a la presencia de especies endmicas.
