Con frecuencia se considera que la llamada desconstruccin y la filosofa de Derrida en conjunto constituyen una forma de pensamiento esencialmente negativa, crtica, incluso pretendidamente demoledora frente al racionalismo filosfico occidental, en general, o griego, y en su configuracin moderna, o ilustrada. De ah las habituales y fciles perezosas crticas a esta filosofa como una nueva figura, postheideggeriano. Ahora bien, es muy otro el deseo, el gesto y la fuerza de la desconstruccin. Ciertamente toda una dimensin de sta trabaja en la direccin de desestructurar y dislocar el sistema de oposiciones conceptuales derivado de la idea metafsica (pero la metafsica no es un bloque unitario) de la verdad como presencia del significado o de la cosa a un espritu o a una consciencia. En este sentido la desconstruccin produce sistemticamente inseguridad en aquello que la filosofa acepta o requiere como lo ms seguro (lo cual se le hace pagar caro por parte de los afectados). Pero su deseo y su fuerza no estn en el sentido de un destruccin de la filosofa y de la bsqueda de la verdad. Es ms bien que esta bsqueda obliga a situarse en los lmites de la filosofa, o en sus fronteras: en lo que separa y una a la filosofa con lo que sta ya no se puede "representar" en su cdigo clsico, y en lo que la vincula a la situacin trpica o "metafrica" de traduccin y transferencia de unas lenguas a otras.
