En el mes de diciembre de 2009 el arquitecto Colombiano Simn Velez recibe el Premio Prncipe Claus en Holanda:La esttica e innovaciones tcnicas en BambGuadua de Vlez han aumentado las posibilidades de la construccin y planteado un reto a las corrientes tradicionales de la arquitectura dice la misiva del galardn. Simn es considerado por el peridico Britnico Financial Times como El Gur del Bamb en el mundo (febrero de 2007). El 25 de Junio de 2011 en ParisFrancia el Eje Cafetero Colombiano es declarado Patrimonio de la Humanidad El paisaje cultural del Caf de Colombia es un ejemplo excepcional de paisaje sustentable y productivo nico as lo afirma la UNESCO.
