El autor tiene como objetivo del presente trabajo poner en relacin el concepto de angustia y duelo congelado con la presncia invasora de un Otro bajo la forma fantasmtica que da paso a una presencia inquietante e invasora. El sujeto, de Chirico en este caso sufre un descalabro simblico que tendr como consecuencia trastornos depresivos y sntomas psicosomaticos. Debe entonces reorganizar la prdida para seguir con la prosecucin de ese duelo.Se ejemplifica esto con la obra pictrica de Giorgio de Chirico, referida al primer cuadro del perodo metafsico El enigma de una tarde de otoo, en el que aparece la escenificacin del duelo por su padre, momento en que se revela a travs de la pintura la prosecucin de un duelo interrumpido durante cinco aos. Este relanzamiento del duelo tiene lugar por la actividad sublimatoria que consiste en la creacin de un nuevo lenguaje a partir dela pintura.
