El propsito del estudio era explicar la relacin entre investigacin y poltica, a partir del caso de la evaluacin de la educacin superior en Mxico. La investigacin comprendi dos fases, el anlisis documental del conocimiento generado sobre la evaluacin, y la entrevista con algunos de los principales especialistas en la materia. De acuerdo con los hallazgos de la investigacin realizada puede sealarse que en Mxico hay una importante base de conocimientos sobre el tema de la evaluacin, y que podra ser considerada como marco de referencia para el debate pblico y la formulacin y evaluacin de las iniciativas correspondientes. No obstante, los expertos muestran que la investigacin ha sido desestimada por la poltica y, cuando mucho, ha tenido repercusiones sutiles como la modificacin del discurso, la alternancia o expansin de roles y, en menor medida, el cambio de prcticas e iniciativas. El trabajo representa un insumo para la comprensin de un fenmeno pertinente en el entorno mundial, ya que a partir de la exploracin del tema de la evaluacin educativa en el contexto mexicano, configura nuevas preguntas para la agenda de investigacin correspondiente.
