Una de ellas, a la que se bautizo con el nombre de Marina, devenido Malintzin, Malinche, La Malinche, nacida mas al norte habia llegado en cautiverio y como hablante de nahuatl a esa zona de lengua maya.Semanas mas tarde, ya en la costa veracruzana, Jeronimo de Aguilar, naufrago rescatado en la peninsula de Yucatan y el unico entre los espanoles familiarizado con el maya, al enterarse de que una de las esclavas tributadas hablaba con las lugarenas, se dirigio a ella en dicho idioma. Asi, del nahuatl al maya y de esta lengua al espanol, se fundo el entendimiento. Gracias a la voz de Marina vemos el encuentro de culturas ante el afan de conquista de Cortes. Tal es la importancia de una mujer que fue senora de dos mundos y en ambos dejo un rastro que en este libro se documenta con nitidez.
