L'criture est la mesure du sujet, glace, implacable, d'une trs haute tenue, passant du cynisme le plus dsinvolte l'aphorisme potique. L'absolu dsespoir de Laroque, sa dmission du monde, le conduiront quitter les deux personnes qui comptaient le plus pour lui : son ami Maury, militant BCBG du Front national ; et surtout Laurence, sa fiance brune et fine, qui l'entretient, qui l'accompagne presque jusqu' la fin du livre, avec laquelle Laroque ne voit plus l'intrt de faire l'amour.
