Das Werk erfreut sich groer Beliebtheit und wird zum Pioniertext einer neuen Literaturgattung, genannt novela picaresca. Der spanische Schelmenroman liefert in den fiktiven autobiographischen Erzhlungen eines AntiHelden das Bild eines Volkes, das vor Adelssucht, Stolz und Eitelkeit strotzt und einem Ehrbegriff erliegt, der zum Charakteristikum des Siglo de Oro wird. Doch auf welche Sulen des spanischen Selbstverstndnisses sttzt sich dieses bersteigerte Ehrgefhl? Um dieser Frage nachzugehen, musste ich einen kurzen Abriss ber geschichtliche und gesellschaftliche Entwicklungen im Goldenen Zeitalter einbeziehen wird doch im Werk die extratextuelle Welt widergespiegelt, die das Ehrkonzept fr das Kollektiv definiert. Die Hauptfragestellung der vorliegenden Arbeit soll jedoch die folgende sein: Wie wird das Phnomen Ehre im Lazarillo de Tormes dargestellt? Im Zuge meiner Analyse habe ich mich auf das dritte Kapitel der novela beschrnkt, da das Thema dort einen herausragenden Stellenwert einnimmt. Von der Figur des hidalgo ausgehend, die zuerst gesellschaftlich situiert und definiert werden musste, extrahierte ich die im Text enthaltenen Manahmen des escudero zur Aufrechterhaltung seiner Ehre. Nachdem diese beiden ersten Teile bearbeitet waren, wurde mir klar, dass die vermeintliche Synonymie honor / honra noch einer genaueren Erwhnung bedarf und es noch an einer Erklrung der Termini fehlte. Diese eingehende Betrachtung fhrte mich auch zu der berlegung, ob denn die Ehre nun ausschlielich ein Phnomen des Goldenen Zeita
