Es un estudio de las corrientes de opinin en Castilla y Len durante el bienio azaista (1931 33). Durante este periodo de la II Repblica gobiernan en Espaa gobiernos de izquierdas presididos por Manuel Azaa. Dichos gobiernos se apoyan en la coalicin o conjuncin republicanosocialista de izquierdas formada por los socialistas y los republicanos de izquierdas. Dentro de las corrientes de opinin destaco la cuestin poltica, la cuestin agraria, la cuestin de la reestructuracin del estado y los nacionalismos, la cuestin religiosa, la cuestin social y la cuestin cultural. Durante dicho periodo histrico, los gobiernos presididos por Azaa intentan resolver los problemas estructurales de la contemporaneidad espaola. Pero se encuentran con una formidable oposicin de las derechas, lideradas por catlicos y agrarios que obstaculizan cualquier posible reforma. La situacin poltica se tensa hasta lmites de ruptura del consenso democrtico que intenta imponer la II Repblica en Espaa, primer periodo democrtico en la historia contempornea espaola antes de la transicin democrtica tras la muerte de Franco en 1975.
