Cette tude s'inscrit dans la ligne des proccupations du ministre de l'ducation concernant le niveau de russite ducative au Qubec. Cette recherche s'intresse l'effet d'une intervention base sur la pdagogie par le jeu. En fait, par ce projet, nous avons valu l'effet d'un programme scolaire d'enseignement des checs sur le dveloppement des habilets en rsolution de problmes mathmatiques et sur le sentiment d'appartenance des lves de cinquime anne du primaire. Pour ce faire, nous avons collabor avec l'Acadmie d'checs du Qubec afin d'offrir un programme scolaire d'enseignement des checs plus de 65 lves. Le programme tait d'une dure de dix heures. Afin d'valuer l'effet de notre programme, nous avons utilis un devis quasiexprimental prtest/postest avec groupe tmoin. Cette dmarche a permis de comparer les rsultats des lves participant au programme d'enseignement des checs ceux obtenus par les autres lves du mme ge. Les rsultats de l'tude dmontrent que les lves pratiquant les checs l'cole ont de meilleurs rsultats en rsolution de problmes mathmatiques, ainsi qu'une meilleure relation auprs de leurs pairs.
