El periodo 19311936 fue una etapa convulsa dentro de la Historia de Espaa. No fue una poca fcil para la prensa escrita. Las dificultades legislativas y las restricciones a la libertad de expresin, (existente de derecho, pero desaparecida de hecho), fueron una constante a lo largo del rgimen republicano. En este difcil marco, la prensa de oposicin al rgimen experimenta una lenta pero inexorable variacin en estos aos. La prensa monrquica se ver ante dos vas a seguir. La primera de ellas sera la aceptacin del modelo republicano y defender, dentro de las reglas del juego, sus posiciones. sta sera la postura de la prensa ms afecta a la CEDA. La segunda va para la prensa monrquica sera la radicalizacin de sus ideas, lo que la llevara a un acercamiento con las posturas monrquicas rupturistas.
