This book was published to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the city of La Quinta's Incorporation. While twentyfive years is not long in the history of a city, La Quinta's heritage has a rich legacy which goes back to the turn of the 19th century when land grants of 160 acre parcels were given out to homesteaders who would then receive title to the land after five years. From this humble beginning, the City of La Quinta has always brought visitors to the Coachella Valley. Those of us who are fortunate to visit or live here continue to reap the benefit of those early settler's vision.
