Luis Cernuda (Sevilla, 21 de septiembre de 1902 Mxico, D.F., 5 de noviembre de 1963) fue un destacado poeta y crtico literario espaol, miembro de la llamada Generacin del 27 que tuvo que exiliarse tras la Guerra Civil Espaola. Su condicin de homosexual, que nunca ocult, chocaba con la represin del dictador Francisco Franco.Luis Cernuda siempre escribi sobre sus sentimientos, sobre su amor y sobre su atraccin por los hombres. No estaba dispuesto a tener que ocultar sus deseos y prefiri abandonar una Espaa que nunca olvidara.En 1936, poco antes de estallar la Guerra Civil Espaola, publica la primera edicin de su obra potica completa hasta entonces, bajo el ttulo La realidad y el deseo. En l incluy sus primeras poesas, as como sus libros ms emblemticos: Los placeres prohibidos, Donde habite el olvido, Las nubes, etc.El sentimiento homosexual, expresado con la belleza de la poesa de Luis Cernuda.

I enjoyed this book, but it took me a while to grasp some of the themes. The Spanish used is quite intricate, which is great for advanced learners but could be challenging for beginners. Still, I'm glad I read it!

Beautifully written masterpiece!
As a fan of Spanish literature, I found 'La Realidad y el Deseo' to be an absolute gem. The language is rich and the characters are so relatable. It’s a great addition to my bookshelf!
